The Role
This key post as a part time (0.40 FTE), permanent Girls’ Physical Education Teacher is available from 6 January 2025, or soon after, subject to satisfactory clearances. The ability to teach Core (KS3 and KS4) and examination PE (KS4) is essential, and the ability to teach A level PE would be an advantage.
We are keen to appoint a talented PE teacher who has a commitment to our distinctive school ethos. The successful candidate should be able to maintain high standards and teach across a full range of physical activities and key stages up to A Level. We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about sport and physical activity and promoting lifelong participation.
The PE department has made rapid improvements in recent years, and the successful candidate would have the opportunity to contribute to continuing this process. The department play an active role in school life, and in addition to the concept core PE curriculum there are popular and successful exam groups at KS4 and KS5 and a thriving extra-curricular programme. The GCSE PE course is a popular option, achieving good grades, and the A Level course is also well subscribed and successful. There is a very high participation level in all KS3 and KS4 PE lessons and the Year 11 students follow a wide-ranging options course. The department has an ever-expanding range of extra-curricular offers and would welcome further experience from a range of activities to contribute to this.

The School
St Mary Redcliffe and Temple (SMRT) is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.
Inspection Reports
The School was judged in April 2015 to be outstanding by Ofsted in each and every category. We were also judged outstanding in our last church school (SIAMS) inspection in March 2017. Despite this there is absolutely no sense of complacency. We are a forward-looking school with a relentless focus on providing the absolute best provision so that no child is left behind.
