The Role
This key post as permanent as permanent full-time Head of MFL, is available from 1 September 2025, subject to satisfactory clearances and references. In addition to your teacher salary you will be paid a TLR 2b (currently £5,195).
We are seeking to appoint a candidate with effective leadership skills, who can teach two languages (Spanish and French) to KS3 and KS4 (GCSE), and at least one of these languages to KS5 (A Level). The ability to teach Spanish to KS5 is likely to be an advantage.

The Languages Department is a forward-thinking and innovative team which strives to share their passion for languages with the students. We teach French, Spanish, and some German. The Department has a strong track record of high achievement and engaging teaching and learning. The subject is taught in a specialist suite of rooms with Teaching and learning are at the heart of what we do, and the team is characterised by high standards and a willingness to develop as professionals through sharing our good practice with one another in a mutually supportive environment.
The current Second in Department (TLR 2a) leads on Spanish and has responsibility for English as an Additional Language (EAL), which includes supporting students who are taking exams in a home language. The department is supported by our Administration ‘pool’, and we employ a Foreign Language Assistant between October and May each year.

The School
St Mary Redcliffe and Temple (SMRT) is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond.
