Head of Music Department - MPR/UPR + TLR2B
Are you an excellent and effective teacher, and ready to take on a leadership role in this successful school, with supportive, committed staff and excellent outcomes? If so, this could be for you!
Positions at Soar Valley do not come up often, and this is a very exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced, dynamic and successful professional with leadership potential to join our team and to make a significant contribution to our Music provision. Music can have such an impact on so many students and we are looking for someone to lead the team through the next stage of development.
There are two full-time members of staff in the department, which works closely with and is situated alongside the other creative arts subjects. Music is a popular choice at Key Stage 4, with three groups currently across Years 10 and 11.
At Soar Valley College we are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students. We provide a vibrant and engaging curriculum that promotes a love of learning and prepares young people for the next steps in their lives. Previously an Outstanding school, we were thrilled to be judged as Outstanding in all areas in our recent inspection. “There is a very strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another”, “Relationships are particularly strong”, and “The school is unfailingly ambitious for the achievement of pupils”, are just some of the quotes which sum up our ethos.
Our progress measures are strong every year (+0.74 in 2024), with very little in-school variation. The thing we are most proud of however, is our unique and caring ethos, which inspires success for all, making this a great school at which to begin or continue your teaching career. Facilities for Music are excellent, and there is a strong, personalised programme of professional development in school.
Further information is available on our website. Interested candidates are welcome to contact us to talk about the position and/or visit the school before making an application should they wish. Please contact Smita Stone with any queries.
Closing date: 3pm Wednesday 14 May 2025.
