Soar Valley College is committed to excellence for all. The report from our recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025, which judged the school to be Outstanding in all areas, also says “There is a strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another” and “The school is unfailingly ambitious for the achievement of pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.” This post represents a fantastic opportunity to join our high performing staff team in this outstanding school – a great place to work, where the caring ethos inspires success for all, outcomes for children are very high and turnover of staff is low.
We pride ourselves on being highly inclusive and look for every possible avenue of support for each individual child. The Exchange is a small but very successful provision within our school, designed to provide support and intervention for students who face significant barriers to learning and engagement with traditional learning in the classroom.
“Some pupils receive extra help to manage their feelings and emotions as part of the school’s ‘exchange’ programme. These pupils benefit from high-quality support to get them back on track where needed.” Ofsted 2025
We are now looking to appoint an additional member of staff to grow this internal alternative provision. The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to our inclusive ethos, working as part of The Exchange team to address such barriers for students across the 11-16 age range.
We seek someone with the ability to relate to the students, to make a difference with them, to demonstrate compassion and understanding, whilst also upholding the very high standards we have here at Soar Valley in terms of achievement and behaviour. You will work with the team, designing and delivering targeted interventions, as well as supporting the learning of the mainstream curriculum. Additionally, there are specific responsibilities for organising and monitoring any off-site provision for students for a suitable candidate.
Further details about the school are available on our website. Please contact Smita Stone if you require any further information.
Closing date: 9am Thursday 11 September 2025.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks, such as an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. Applicants who will be undertaking early and/or later years childcare (or the management of such childcare) will be required to complete a declaration that neither they, nor anyone who lives in the same household, is a disqualified person under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.
