Most of our school site is managed through a PFI contract and by an external provider, but we have some additional facilities which are ‘ours’, with plans to further build. The Site Manager plays a fundamental role in the smooth and efficient running of these facilities. We also liaise closely with other schools in our Trust and some work on other sites may be necessary.
The postholder will be expected to work in a flexible way to meet the needs of the school, combining planned and regular maintenance and compliance tasks with day-to-day needs and emergency situations. The role includes carrying out a full range of duties to provide for the security and safety of the buildings and people. It involves working on your own initiative as well as under the direction of the Business Manager.
The successful candidate will have some experience in a similar role or be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out maintenance and DIY tasks, plus an awareness and knowledges of health and safety procedures and requirements. Previous education sector experience is welcomed but not essential as training specific to various aspects of the role can be provided.
Soar Valley College has a unique ethos. Ours is a school with a vibrant mix of cultures, and where relationships are a real strength. We are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students, and we do all of this within a very caring environment. We have a low staff turnover, an indication of the high staff morale and positive relationships between everyone at the school.
Please see our website for further details about the school in general. Should you require further information or wish to arrange a visit, please contact our Personnel Manager, Smita Stone.
