Teacher of Humanities (ability to offer RE an advantage) – MPR/UPR

Our recent Ofsted inspection judged Soar Valley to be Outstanding in all four categories, an outcome of which we are very proud. The first sentence of the report sums up our school: “There is a very strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another.” Please do read the report for more information – we are very proud of it!

This post represents a rare opportunity to be a part of this superb school. We are looking to recruit a highly competent, conscientious and enthusiastic teacher to join our excellent Humanities team for the start of the new academic year 2026, and welcome applications from both early career teachers and those with more experience.

Humanities subjects are a strength at Soar Valley. RE is taught to all students up to GCSE level, supporting the development of tolerance and respect for others’ beliefs and cultures, so vital in our diverse community, and so the ability to offer the subject is an advantage. History and Geography are both very popular and there are several options groups at Key Stage 4 in both subjects.

Soar Valley College has a unique ethos. We value and celebrate effort above all else with our students, constantly striving for them to be the best they can be. We are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students, and we do all of this within a very caring environment. The curriculum is vibrant and engaging, promoting the love of learning and preparing young people for the next steps in their lives. Academic performance across the school is very strong, with strong attainment across the whole curriculum and excellent progress measures every year (P8 2024 = +0.74).

Please see our website for further details about the school in general and the department more specifically. Should you require further information please contact our Personnel Manager, Smita Stone.

Closing date: 9am Monday 26 January 2026.
