Teacher of Humanities (ability to offer RE an advantage) – MPR/UPR
Due to a last-minute staffing change, we are looking to recruit a teacher to join our excellent team. We seek a highly competent, conscientious and enthusiastic teacher of Humanities to join us from the start of the new academic year. We welcome applications from both early career teachers and those with more experience.
Humanities subjects are a strength in the school, with several option groups of History and Geography in each of years 10 and 11. The ability to offer RE would be an advantage, with RE taught to all students up to GCSE level, and supporting the development of tolerance and respect for others’ beliefs and cultures, so vital in our diverse community.
Soar Valley College has a unique ethos. Ours is a school with a vibrant mix of cultures, and where relationships are a real strength. We value and celebrate effort above all else with our students, constantly striving for them to be the best they can be. We are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students, and we do all of this within a very caring environment. The curriculum is vibrant and engaging, promoting the love of learning and preparing young people for the next steps in their lives. Academic performance across the school is very strong, with good attainment and excellent progress measures every year (P8 2024 = +0.74).
Our recent Ofsted inspection judged Soar Valley to be Outstanding in all four categories, of which we are very proud. The first sentence of the report sums up our school: “There is a very strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another.” Please do read the report for more information.
Please see our website for further details about the school in general and the department more specifically. Should you require further information please contact our Personnel Manager, Smita Stone..
Closing date: 9am 18 June 2025. Applications will be considered as they are received.
