Teacher of Science – MPR/UPR
This is an excellent (and rare!) opportunity for a highly competent, committed and enthusiastic teacher of science to join our very successful team. We are looking to cover a maternity leave from January 2026 until the end of the academic year in the first instance, and with the potential for a permanent post following this.
Science is a very high achieving subject at Soar Valley, delivered by a stable team, one which is supportive and highly collaborative in approach, all of which makes this an excellent place to work. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and those newer to the profession, and from those wishing to offer full or part time.
After 11 years as an Outstanding school following an inspection in 2014, Ofsted again rated Soar Valley as outstanding in all categories in March of this year. We are justifiably proud of comments in the report such as ‘There is a very strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another’, and ‘Pupils demonstrate exemplary behaviour’.
We believe we have a unique ethos. Ours is a school with a vibrant mix of cultures, and where relationships between all are a real strength, and contribute massively to our success. We value and celebrate effort above all else with our students, constantly striving for them to be the best they can be. We are committed to high standards, raising achievement and developing excellence in our staff and students, and we do all of this within a very caring environment. The curriculum is vibrant and engaging, promoting the love of learning and preparing young people for the next steps in their lives. This all leads to very strong academic performance across the school, with good attainment and excellent progress measures every year (Progress 8 2024 = +0.7).
Please see our website for further details about the school in general and the department more specifically. Should you require further information or wish to arrange a visit, please contact our Personnel Manager, Smita Stone,
Closing date: 9am Tuesday 28th October 2025.
