The pupils, staff and Governing Body of Shield Road Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher who will provide strong, professional and ambitious leadership.

Salary: £58,135 - £67,364 – salary within this pay range only.

Shield Road Primary School is a happy and warm diverse school on the Bristol/South Gloucestershire boundary. The school is an inclusive learning community. We aspire to develop responsible citizens who value themselves and others. We want our pupils to enjoy their education, to be successful and reach their own unique potential. Our pupils primarily come from the immediate surrounding area, and we pride ourselves on our strong community values, with many of our parents and carers being multi-generational pupils of our school. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2018 was GOOD and stated that ‘Pupils play well together. They had no recollection of any incidents of bullying and feel the school and staff expect pupils to show respect to one another.’ Governors are excited about appointing a new Headteacher to our school and working closely with them to further develop our vision for the future.

Our new Headteacher will need to have:

• Evidence of successful senior leadership as a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher in a primary school.

• A proven track record of leading school improvement planning, setting clear improvement targets, consulting with staff and governors and ensuring implementation across the school.

• A proven track record of raising pupil achievement across a wide range of abilities and backgrounds including children with EAL, pupil premium and SEND.

• A good understanding of the statutory, financial, and budgetary processes required in the management of a school.

• Experience of meeting the needs of pupils from a diverse community, challenging and motivating children to achieve to their full potential.

• A proven track record of delivering a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum.

What we can offer

• A friendly, welcoming environment to work in, underpinned by a strong sense of community.

• Enthusiastic, motivated, well behaved, happy pupils who are eager to learn.

• Supportive governors, parents and wider community.

• Hardworking dedicated staff who support each other.
