Teaching Assistant

Start date: w/c 7th March 2022 or as soon as possible

Hours: Minimum 19 ½ hours per week, up to 20 ½ hours per week, term time only (depending on working days – preferred Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)

Salary: Hay 9 (19 ½ hours - £10,416-£11,499 per annum. 20 ½ hours - £10,950-£12,089 per annum)

This is a fixed term contract until 31st December 2022 pending a review of pupil numbers.

Required enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to support the education of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Difficulties (SEMHD) at Pathways Learning Centre. The post on offer is currently term time only / part time but more hours may become available. The role is to work flexibly across key stages, working with a class or group of students under the direction of the class teacher and/or Intervention Manager.

Pathways Learning Centre provides short stay education and therapeutic support for students between Key Stage 1 – 4; who are unable to access mainstream provision for a variety of reasons. The successful applicant will join a dynamic, enthusiastic team, totally committed to supporting some of the most vulnerable students in South Gloucestershire.

The post holder will need to be :

• Creative in the way he/she works and able to support students with a range of SEND needs

• Experience of working with students in an educational setting

• Training and or experience in specialist social and emotional intervention work such as ELSA, Thrive and therapeutic Mentoring would be an advantage.

• Enthusiasm and commitment to enable students to access the curriculum

• The ability to work in partnership with teachers to facilitate student learning

• The ability to ensure that the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of individual students enhances their learning and life skills
