LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

30 hours per week (term time only plus 5 days)

8:30-15:00 Mon–Fri

South Wigston High School is a vibrant, exciting and over-subscribed 11-16 school on the outskirts of Leicester. Our students are enthusiastic and our staff are welcoming, hardworking and supportive. We are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly Pastoral team.

If you are someone who has always wondered whether you would be suited to a career in education this is a fantastic opportunity for you to find out and gain valuable experience. This role may be particularly suitable for a graduate looking for classroom experience prior to undertaking teaching training or equally someone with existing experience within education.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the supervision and interaction of pupils in lessons
  • Assist in the assessment and review of pupils’ progress and statement review meetings
  • Support the teacher in the classroom and act on strategies to manage pupil behaviour
  • Contribute to some curriculum planning, evaluation and implementation, alongside and supported by the teacher
  • Monitor pupils’ achievement, objectives, general care, safety and welfare
