About Sir Robert Woodard

Part of Woodard Academies

We are a dynamic and popular 11–18 academy located between Worthing and Brighton, serving the students of Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham.

Our aim is that every student is known and nurtured and is provided with teaching and learning experiences that allow them to fulfill their potential. We believe that students succeed when the environment is caring and orderly, with teaching that fires the imagination and brings learning to life.

Our aspiration is for our academy to make a difference not only to individual students, but also to our community. We look forward to working with all our partners in generating an ambitious community of learning where students are confident, articulate, self-assured and excited by the possibilities available to them.

Students and staff at SRWA are lucky enough to benefit from a purpose built school with outstanding facilities. As well as a reputation for excellent work in STEM we are also known for our superb performing arts offering and are home to the Sussex Bears Basketball Academy which brings superb sporting expertise.

VISION, VALUES AND ETHOS

Central to our Vision

Our Vision

Our vision is based on high expectations, inspirational leadership and increasingly personalised learning pathways, leading to improved educational achievements and enhanced opportunities as our young people prepare for, and move into, adult life.

We focus on ensuring a first-class holistic education that stimulates, challenges and develops the whole person, and enables each individual student to achieve in all areas of their school life.  We ensure that they keep pace with national and international developments, providing students with the real-life skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Alongside outstanding teaching and learning, we provide a huge range of extra-curricular activities that develop new interests and skills, celebrate all aspects of learning, and challenge young people to move out of their comfort zone.

"Our aim is to be recognised as a centre of excellence where learning is fun and high standards are achieved."

Our Values

Our values are rooted in our Christian ethos and are central to our vision.

We reflect respect for diversity, care for our local and global community and act as stewards to preserve and value our environment.

Our curriculum as well as our enrichment activities embody British values and responsible citizenship.

In unity we work together as a family, showing love and respect for others, confidence in ourselves, and pride in our achievements.

Woodard Academies Trust

Faith, Unity and Vision are the three words that capture the very essence of a Woodard education

Woodard Academies Trust is an education charity formed to deliver an academy programme on behalf of Woodard Schools.  Created by founder Nathaniel Woodard in 1848, Woodard is the largest group of independent Church of England Schools in England and Wales.  Woodard Academies Trust and Woodard Schools share a common ethos of faith, unity and vision and are determined to inspire young people to make a difference.

Our Christian ethos reflects our deep commitment to delivering an outstanding education to our students.  We prioritise inclusion and value individuals and our academies welcome students and staff of all faiths and none.

We excel in delivering pastoral care and personalised learning paths.   Our aim is to offer students a first-class education and teach them real-life skills that will provide lifelong benefits.  We are passionate about enrichment and the development of the whole person, so our schools and academies run extensive sporting, music, arts, community and charity programmes. Duke of Edinburgh and programmes through The National Citizenship Service feature strongly in our academies.
