St James Primary School is looking to recruit an early career teacher to work in Key Stage 2 from September. You will work with the Headteacher and our wonderful staff to ‘Bring Out the Best’ in our children.

St James is part of the Surrey Oak Church of England Schools Federation, a formal federation between St James and St Mary's Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) Infant School and was described in its recent Ofsted (June 2024) as a "happy and joyful school [...] having a family feel".

We wish to appoint a teacher with QTS and a passion for primary education. You will enthuse and excite children in their learning, have high expectations and be a highly motivated and flexible team member.

This is a full time position.

In return, we offer:

  •  a NCETM PD Lead accredited Maths teacher in school to support teacher development
  •  opportunities to work with other experienced teachers within St James and across the Surrey Oak Federation
  •  full support and mentoring through the ECT induction program
  •  an environment that champions staff and pupil emotional wellbeing
  •  a very warm, friendly and supportive working environment with a commitment to nurturing and developing all our staff, including our school dog
  •  a caring and inclusive Christian ethos with supportive, enthusiastic and dedicated staff, governors and parents

You will:

  •  be an enthusiastic and creative teacher who provides an engaging and rich learning experience to bring out the best in our children
  •  have a positive attitude to life and a belief that every child can fulfil their potential
  •  have a proactive approach to their professional development
  •  have excellent organisational, ICT and interpersonal skills
  •  be committed to make a positive contribution to the school and the wider community.

Visits to the school prior to an application are warmly welcomed and encouraged but, if a visit is not possible, you may wish to phone for further details.

Closing date for applications: 22 April 2025.

An early application is recommended as candidates will be assessed and shortlisted as their application is received. Interviews are expected to be held on 30 April 2025 or earlier for an exceptional applicant.
