The pupils, staff and governors of St James Church School are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our friendly and dynamic team. St James is a diverse, loving and caring school. We are looking for a teacher with a passion for education, who will offer children high-quality learning with a key belief that relationships are important in engaging both parents and children. The role:
As a caretaker, you will carry out a range of duties to contribute to the security, safety and maintenance of the school premises including the following:
Site security - locking the school and setting alarms each evening.
Maintenance & repairs - carrying out basic DIY tasks keeping the school safe and operational.
Health & safety – regular checks of fire alarms, emergency exits and playground equipment, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Cleaning & grounds – supporting the cleaning team, tidying outdoor areas, gritting paths in winter and making sure the school looks its best.
Event support – setting up for occasional school events taking place in the evenings.
We are looking for:
Someone hands-on, proactive and able to work independently.
Good problem-solving skills and a practical mindset.
