We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and caring Kitchen Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our school kitchen, preparing and serving nutritious meals for our children and leading our kitchen team.

As our Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the day-to-day running of the school kitchen.
- Preparing, cooking and serving school meals within set deadlines.
- Supervising, directing and deploying Kitchen Assistants appropriately.
- Supporting and training kitchen staff where required.
- Planning day-to-day kitchen activities to meet the catering needs of the school within agreed budgets and nutritional guidelines.
- Assisting with menu planning and the provision of nutritionally balanced meals.
- Understanding and safely catering for different dietary requirements, including allergies and intolerances.
- Ordering food and stock, maintaining appropriate stock records and processing invoices for payment.
- Liaising with the food provider regarding the receipt and handover of food transport boxes.
- Supervising the lunchtime food service.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety throughout the kitchen.
- Ensuring kitchen equipment is used safely and appropriately.
- Completing washing up and general kitchen duties as required.
- Preparing refreshments and beverages when requested.
- Reporting equipment faults and requesting replacement or additional kitchen resources through the School Business Manager.
- Maintaining appropriate kitchen documentation and records.
- Working in accordance with food handling, food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH requirements.
The successful candidate will work with limited supervision to an established work pattern, with support available from the Headteacher and other designated members of staff.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working with and preparing food.
- Holds a minimum Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
- Is trained in food handling.
- Has a good knowledge of food hygiene practices.
- Understands the importance of health and safety and COSHH requirements.
- Can confidently lead, supervise and support a small team.
- Can organise their workload and work to strict deadlines.
- Can plan effectively while working within agreed budgets and nutritional guidelines.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Has basic IT skills and can maintain appropriate records.
- Is reliable, patient, flexible and willing to undertake further training as required.
- Is committed to ensuring the excellent health, safety and welfare of children.
An NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant food-related subject, previous experience of school meals provision and experience of supervising a team would be advantageous.
First Aid training would also be beneficial, although training can be provided for a candidate who is willing to undertake it.
