Resource Base Leader

Hours: Full Time

Secondment (internal only) OR fixed term contract - 12 months

Start date: September 2025

Location: St Nicholas Church School, Radstock, Bath

Pay Grade: Main Scale – UPS 1 + SEN Allowance (£3750)

We are looking for a highly organised and well-motivated teacher to lead our KS1 & KS2 Resource Bases. Each base has a maximum of 10 pupils.

Working alongside the Heads of School and SENCO in delivering an outstanding education for every child, we are looking for candidates who:

As a Base Leader:

• Has the skills to lead and manage a team of dedicated staff across both bases (up to 20 children)

• Effectively manages resources and learning areas to support outcomes for children.

• Is able to model excellent practice in both teaching and behaviour management, inspiring and motivating other staff.

• Is able to plan a diverse range of learning activities, encompassing individual targets set out in EHCPs.

• Provide an exciting, stimulating and creative curriculum.

• Is a highly proactive, reflective and adaptive practitioner who enjoys problem solving.

• Has excellent communication skills and develops strong working relationships with families to support the needs of pupils.

• Works closely with teachers in the main school to support resource base children in accessing mainstream lessons when appropriate.

• Develops, implements and monitors targeted action plans to enhance the provision across both bases.

• Has an understanding of supporting pupils with EHCPs as part of an annual cycle, including leading annual review meetings

• Has an understand and experience of support children that can display challenging behaviour.

• Manage the transition of children between resource bases and other settings at the end of the academic year. `

• Will be part of the consultation process for placement of children within the resource bases by the local authority.

• Will be confident liaising with external agencies in supporting all pupils' needs across the bases.

As a teacher:

• Has a passion for education and is willing to challenge themselves to become an excellent practitioner;

• Has a good understanding of supporting children with a range of SEND needs, and the capability to support a diverse range of needs effectively within the classroom;

• Has an understanding of trauma informed approaches, and is able to support children with social and emotional learning as part of the daily curriculum;

• Has experience and understanding of the EYFS curriculum and areas of learning, with experience of planning and delivering effective continuous provision;

• Has strong communication skills, and is able to liaise with families and professionals about the young people they are working with;

• Has high expectations and works to ensure that all children can succeed in their learning;

• Has a good understanding of effective teaching practices and is prepared to reflect and develop;

• Enjoys taking an active role as part of the whole school and community;

• Has a great sense of humour!
