The pupils, staff and governors are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic team from 1st September 2026.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant at Norton-Sub-Hamdon Church School. The successful candidate will provide individualised support for a child within Key Stage 2, helping them to access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and achieve their full potential.

We are seeking a fun, energetic and caring individual who enjoys building positive relationships with children and supporting their social, emotional and academic development. The role will involve working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to implement targeted strategies and adaptations that meet the child's individual needs, including those related to Special Educational Needs.

You will support high-quality teaching and learning within a nurturing and inclusive environment, enabling the child to feel safe, valued and confident in their learning. We wish to appoint a dedicated team player with excellent communication skills, the ability to use their initiative, and the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the child and school.

This role also incorporates lunchtime support for the named child, helping to promote positive interactions, engagement and wellbeing throughout the school day.

  The successful candidate will:

 Have recent and relevant Teaching Assistant experience in at least one Primary School

Have the knowledge and understanding to work with children across the curriculum and children with a wide range of need and learning experiences including SEND.

Have aspirational expectations

Be able to relate effectively with learners and adults

Be able to support the school’s Christian values
