Head of School's Welcome

Dear parents, carers and visitors,

On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, I welcome you to Stanbridge Primary School in Downend, Bristol. We are a vibrant, inclusive and family orientated school with a strong community ethos within South Gloucestershire. I am so proud to be Head of this caring community of learners with a fantastic staff team, dedicated Governors, supportive parents and happy, engaged children.

Selecting a school for your child is a daunting process and I realise how important it is to feel trust in the people that care for your child each day. Each of our staff is highly dedicated and will always go the extra mile to ensure that every child is valued, inspired and engaged. This is achieved through a creative and forward thinking curriculum where we aim to master the basics we need for life in reading, writing and maths as well as develop our knowledge and curiosity of the world. Please see our curriculum page for more information about how we have shaped our curriculum to serve our community and ensure that our children leave us as knowledgeable citizens, ready for life in the 21st century!

We believe that education is about the entire child, their well-being and enrichment as well as their academic achievement. Over the last couple of years, we have worked as a team to enhance the academic success, curriculum, outdoor environment and appearance of our school and there is still more to come! We’d love you to be a part of our journey as we strive for our entire community to BE BRAVE NOT PERFECT. A statement that given the uncertain times we face in the world in 2023, we feel is prevalent now more than ever.

Please find out more around our school by viewing the different sections on our website. If you are a prospective parent, please call or email the office if you would like to find out more about our wonderful school or to arrange a tour with myself.

Our Values

We are a family community at Stanbridge. Our children learn through high quality teaching. Our curriculum is wide, broad and engaging and creative and allows children to develop as citizens and become lifelong learners.

Teachers and children enjoy coming to school and we place a high emphasis on children’s well-being both physical and mental and this is reflected in the provision we offer and throughout all aspects of daily life.

We learn together to make a positive difference and allow children to become confident and independent learners. We consider carefully all children’s needs to allow them to learn and do well at school.

At Stanbridge we are committed to building positive relationships and leading by example with our staff modelling our values.
