Progress Tutor – 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

Actual Salary – £27,026 to £28,654

We are currently seeking a Progress Tutor to join our Student Support Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding, student-focused role, ideal for individuals who enjoy supporting young people and may be considering a future career in education.

As a Progress Tutor, you will play a key role in supporting student success. You will manage a caseload of approximately 240 students across 10 groups, deliver engaging and meaningful group tutorials, and provide tailored pastoral support and guidance. You will work closely with students to set and monitor targets relating to achievement, attendance, retention, and progression.

You will contribute to the development of high-quality pastoral resources and help foster a culture of growth, purpose, and belonging. By working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies, you will support students in overcoming barriers to learning, including social, emotional, and mental health challenges, ensuring they are able to thrive both inside and outside of the classroom.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Confidence in using IT systems

Most importantly, you will have a genuine passion for supporting young people and enabling them to succeed. You will balance a compassionate, supportive approach with the ability to challenge and motivate students to achieve their best.

Experience of working with vulnerable students, particularly those with mental health needs, is desirable. A relevant qualification (such as Mental Health First Aid) would be advantageous. You must also be confident in managing challenging situations calmly and effectively, including the ability to de-escalate when required.

While a degree is desirable, we welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience and a strong commitment to supporting young people. A comprehensive training package will be provided to support your development in the role.
