About Us

WHO WE ARE

At St Dunstan’s we provide a high quality of education and an environment that supports, nurtures and challenges students to fulfil their potential. We ensure students are prepared with the skills, morals and qualifications to allow them to progress to further education and to become valued members of the community. We are deeply proud that our students have made excellent progress over many years in their GCSE examinations; regularly above that of other local secondary schools.

In July 2018 the school was judged as 'Good' by Ofsted. In a glowing report inspectors said 'The headteacher, trust and senior leaders have transformed St Dunstan's, it provides a good quality of education and students are safe'. They are 'highly ambitious for the school, each pupil and the community.'

The school has undergone significant refurbishment over the recent years as part of an ongoing programme to ensure the school is an inspiring environment, with modern facilities, to support high quality learning. Teaching is enhanced through collaborative working to share best practise, allowing students to access new activities and events across the MAT partnership.

Our School is a warm and welcoming place where students are happy and enthusiastic. Students show pride in their work and constantly strive to be the best they can.

We have very high expectations of all our students. We expect them to reflect this in their appearance, attitudes and behaviours. We are shaping the citizens of the future, and encourage our students to be honest, fair and understanding of each other and the world around them. We want every student to have a sense of pride in belonging to our school community.

Students at our school continue to perform well in their examinations and make progress above national expectations. We continue to raise standards and expectations to ensure all students achieve more than they thought possible. As well as being rigorous and demanding, inspiring and challenging, I firmly believe that school should be fun with teaching that fosters enthusiasm, enjoyment and strong relationships.

PART OF MIDSOMER NORTON SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP

The Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership was founded in 2009 following the hard federation between Norton Hill and Somervale Secondary Schools. Since this point the Trust has grown to include other secondary schools and a large number of primary schools, which are all located in the Southwest of England: Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and North Somerset. The full list of schools that are members of the Trust are shown above.

Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership provides support and challenge to all of our schools so that our entire community of children and young people can achieve their best. The unique character of each school is celebrated and nurtured to ensure choice and variety in educational provision. The Trust is committed to providing a broad, balanced and aspirational curriculum in all of its schools, so that all children and young people develop the character and qualifications needed to open doors to their future success. A strong focus on developing and providing inspirational teaching and leadership in all schools, through school-to-school improvement, ensures outstanding progress and educational enjoyment for all members of our partnership’s community.
