St Gregory the Great is a Catholic school located in Oxford, within the Diocese of Birmingham and is part of The Pope Francis Catholic Multi Academy Company (PFMAC).

We are looking to appoint an experienced SENCo/EAL Lead

We believe in the huge potential of our students and focus relentlessly on high aspirations and high achievements. We are a vibrant and improving school, which uses its core Catholic values to provide strength and direction for all our students.

St Gregory the Great Catholic School is seeking to appoint an inspirational SENCo/EAL Lead who is forward thinking, has drive, passion and commitment to deliver outstanding support and to work alongside the Deputy Headteacher within Inclusion.

We wish to appoint someone with sound knowledge of the different challenges and barriers children face, who is passionate about their desire to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. The successful candidate will need to be a qualified SENCO and hold the National SENCO qualification or be working towards completing the qualification.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to make a difference to the achievement and life chances of the young people we serve.

The ideal candidate will:

• Qualified teacher status

• Be an effective practitioner with excellent subject knowledge

• Be an effective leader and ability to manage a team of Inclusion staff, Therapeutic Support and EAL teams

• A passion for SEND/EAL and a clear strategic vision for what they want to achieve

• Experience working with a wide range of examples of successful SEND/EAL practice.

• SENCo qualification or be registered and working towards this.

• Up to date knowledge of the SEN Framework & Code of Practice.

• Experience of working with the LA and outside agencies to support children and families.

• A collaborative approach to working, and one who is able to bring their team with them.

• Great communication skills, and able to work successfully with the leadership team, staff, pupils, families and outside agencies

The majority of support takes place within the classroom. Classroom support is prioritised for students with statements of SEN and EHC plans. As the designated SENCO your role is to be the first point of contact for teaching and support staff who work with students that have SEN or are currently undergoing assessment.

All applicants must be fully able to support the Catholic Christian ethos of the school.
