Start date: 1st September 2026

The Role

St John's College is a leading independent school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18. With approximately 500 pupils on its roll, St John’s is also the Choir School to Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Teacher of Biology to join our department from September 2026. Candidates should be able to teach Biology across KS3–KS5 and be willing and able to teach all three sciences up to KS3.

This vacancy arises following a series of routine staff movements over the past three years, including career relocations and maternity cover. We continue to enjoy a strong and stable teaching team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a thriving department, will inspire and develop pupils across all key stages, and contribute to maintaining excellent results, particularly at KS5.

At GCSE, the majority of our pupils study the separate science pathway and KS5 uptake in Science is the highest in the School. The Science Faculty, which is noted for its academic success, currently comprises 10 teaching staff, and 3 technicians, covering all three disciplines. It is the aim of the team to get pupils to reach the highest possible standard that they can achieve, ensuring that they are well prepared for both internal and external examinations, higher education and the world of work.

St John’s College, Cardiff is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We warmly welcome applications from all faiths who wish to work in our community and are willing to support the school’s Catholic ethos.
