Your Role in Building Brighter Futures
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a vital role in supporting learning and complementing the professional work of teachers across the school. This role involves leading whole-class sessions under supervision, supporting pupils with additional needs, and contributing to planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing the needs of pupils and using specialist skills to support learning.
- Delivering learning activities to whole classes or groups under supervision.
- Supporting and promoting inclusion, independence, and engagement.
- Monitoring, recording, and reporting on student progress and development.
- Planning, preparing, and evaluating lessons and learning materials.
- Supporting teachers with administrative tasks and assessments.
- Supervising pupils during lesson times, break times, and on trips.
- Contributing to the development of EHCPs and pupil progress reports.
- Using ICT and specialist resources to enhance pupil learning.
- Collaborating with external professionals and supporting parental engagement.
What You’ll Bring to Futura
We are looking for an experienced and motivated HLTA who:
Has a good general education (5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C or above).
Holds HLTA status or Qualified Teacher Status.
Is a qualified first aider.
Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children in a classroom setting.
Understands the principles of child development and the barriers to learning.
Can use a range of strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
Is an effective communicator with both pupils and adults.
Has strong ICT skills and the ability to support learning through technology.
Demonstrates initiative, collaboration, and a commitment to professional development.
