We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English; the successful candidate would be expected to teach English across all the ability ranges at KS3 & KS4.

This role would be suitable for both ECT as well as existing experienced English teachers. We will also consider part time applications for this position.

St Joseph’s is a successful 11-16 Catholic college in Swindon. Our aim is to reflect the Christian values proclaimed in the Gospel by providing a nurturing and inclusive community in which young people can thrive and grow as balanced individuals, morally, intellectually and spiritually. We want our students to leave the college having made good academic progress alongside developing the key personal skills needed to be successful in life . We hope they will be respectful and tolerant young people who are able to enrich their own lives as well as the lives of those around them. To achieve these aims we need the very best staff; people who share our vision of the potential we see in our young people and are passionate about giving them the opportunity to learn to be the best they can be.

In return for your talent and commitment, we can offer you a supportive professional working environment that is founded on mutual respect and high standards of teaching and learning. We offer opportunities for professional development and progression including support and funding for NPQs and other training. The English Department at St. Joseph’s is a high-performing, friendly and supportive team with a good profile and reputation in the college. Students like studying English at St. Joseph’s and respect and value the subject and teachers. New additions to the department are welcomed with enthusiasm and our colleagues provide a high level of support for new teachers joining the college. The English team pride themselves on being a collegial department within which resources and subject knowledge are actively shared and collaboratively created, underpinning a truly excellent curriculum.

In addition to the confidence that comes from working with a motivated and knowledgeable team, we are proud to be a school with a real focus on the wellbeing of the staff who work for us. We offer a BUPA cash back plan as well as initiatives such as an annual additional term-time privilege day off and other initiatives such as staff wellbeing breakfasts to ensure that our staff feel valued and supported. This forms part of our investment in our people alongside our other benefits such as pension, high quality equipment and our employee assistance line. We look forward to hearing from you if this sounds like a role and environment which would be suitable for you.
