St Julian’s is situated in the attractive and friendly village of Wellow, just south of Bath. The main school building, which dates from 1843, provides the school hall, one classroom, the library and the offices.
There are three additional classrooms close to the main building, each with its own facilities. Adjacent to the school is the main playground, a small field, known as ‘the paddock’, an adventure play area and a conservation area. In September 2018 the provision for Early Years outdoor learning was enhanced through the building of a purpose built canopy with water features, mark making areas, a mud kitchen and a large role play area. This allows children in both Oak and Chestnut classes free flow access to excellent outdoor learning experiences.
We are very lucky to be situated in a beautiful village, surrounded by countryside, open spaces and woodland. The school is committed to outdoor learning and many Forest School type activities are planned within the school day to bring learning to life for our children. .
St Julian's was once federated with Shoscombe Church School. Now both schools are part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership Trust but continue to work in very close collaboration with a shared Executive Head Teacher and one governing body.
All the Staff and Governors work hard to provide our children with a warm, secure and stimulating environment for learning, within an ethos which strongly promotes Christian values.
We believe that children need to develop skills that will equip them for the future, so we offer a rich curriculum that includes outdoor learning as well as the more traditional subject areas. We want to develop lively enquiring minds, confident individuals and focussed learners who can adapt in different situations and who can work well with others.
We aim to co-operate with parents in encouraging each child to develop academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership was founded in 2009 following the hard federation between Norton Hill and Somervale Secondary Schools. Since this point the Trust has grown to include other secondary schools and a large number of primary schools, which are all located in the Southwest of England: Bath and North East Somerset, Somerset and North Somerset. The full list of schools that are members of the Trust are shown above.
Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership provides support and challenge to all of our schools so that our entire community of children and young people can achieve their best. The unique character of each school is celebrated and nurtured to ensure choice and variety in educational provision. The Trust is committed to providing a broad, balanced and aspirational curriculum in all of its schools, so that all children and young people develop the character and qualifications needed to open doors to their future success. A strong focus on developing and providing inspirational teaching and leadership in all schools, through school-to-school improvement, ensures outstanding progress and educational enjoyment for all members of our partnership’s community.
