St. Lawrence is a thriving primary school, situated in the heart of a picturesque Surrey village, and is very much a focal point for the community. Our aim is to feed curiosity and inspire learning so that every child achieves his or her full potential, happy and confident in the supportive environment of our small friendly school.
As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment. This means that we adhere to our Child Protection Policy and procedures.
As part of The Howard Partnership Trust, we are delighted to have within the Partnership The Howard Nursery School. The nursery school has excellent support in educational development and is committed to “Bringing out the best” so that children leave full of confidence and ready to take the next step to St Lawrence Primary School.
At St Lawrence our aim is to ensure that each child receives the opportunities, challenges, support, encouragement and praise required to fulfil his or her individual potential. Children at St Lawrence typically achieve well above both the Surrey County and national average, whatever their educational needs. Our teachers combine creativity with best practice to inspire an enthusiasm for learning in a stimulating classroom setting. St Lawrence creates an environment where children have a voice that is heard and are encouraged to embrace the school’s values, discover their talents and fulfil their potential.
House points, the children’s school council, the opportunity to participate in sports, drama, music, class assemblies and a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, exciting school outings and residential trips all contribute to this.
The school is very fortunate to have great facilities; large, bright classrooms all equipped with computers and most with access to their own outside space. St Lawrence also has a fabulous new hall and kitchen, a large school field, an orchard, an allotment, a playground with a quiet area, an outside classroom, a children’s kitchen and, of course, a library.
At St Lawrence we have lots to be proud about! We have won the Healthy Schools (2008), Bronze Eco (2009) and Good Sports (2009)Awards. Our children have won awards for swimming and take part in inter-school gymnastic displays. Our sports teams have won cross country championships and regularly participate in football and netball tournaments. We are the only school in Surrey to offer a Civic Award recognised by the City of Southampton Civic Awards scheme - a primary school version of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
