Position :Class teacher  - Maternity cover (Year group flexible)

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: 5 days per week, on a temporary maternity cover contract

Closing date: 12th May 2025 at 10am

We are looking for a 1 year Maternity Cover Teacher with the possibility of being extended depending on next years maternity cover needs.

St Mary's Primary School is a two form entry school with a nursery. We are an inclusive and nurturing school, in the heart of a village community and looking for a friendly, aspirational, kind, skilled and professional person to join our team. 

Purpose

• To provide excellent teaching and enjoyable learning for the children.

• To manage or assist in the development of a curriculum area throughout the school.

Responsibilities

• To adhere to our safeguarding policies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

• To meet, share ideas and plan collaboratively with members of the team and ensure enjoyment, continuity and progression for all.

• To effectively deploy support staff.

• To implement and maintain the school’s pastoral care and behaviour policy, considering the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of each child.

• To meet the academic needs of all children.

• To be a reflective practitioner and proactive in seeking CPD opportunities.

Teaching and Learning

• To demonstrate excellent practice in terms of classroom teaching, learning and organisation.

• To assess pupils in line with the school policy.

• To ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners across the curriculum including vulnerable groups.

Strategic Development

• To manage or assist in developing policy and practice, leading the work of colleagues in a specified subject in order to promote effective teaching and learning for all children.
