Do you love working with children, enjoy creative play and love the outdoors? Then this is the job for you!

The ‘Wise Owl Club’ is our before and after school club with up to 100 children attending each day at breakfast and after school sessions.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, and creative Playworker to work with our after school club team on a casual basis. The casual role will take place 3:00 – 6:00pm between Monday and Friday during term time. You may be asked to work as and when required, or on a regular weekly basis dependent on your availability and the operational needs of the club.

The role includes:

  • To actively assist the club manager and supervisors in the safe and organised running of the club
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the manager/supervisors (e.g., preparing, serving, and tidying away ‘snacks’, escorting children to and from clubs including swimming)
  • Supervising and engaging with the children in play and conversation whilst ensuring their safety at all times
  • Ensuring every child has a positive and fun experience whilst attending the club
  • Being aware of and maintaining sensitivity for children with additional needs
  • Plan, create, set up and deliver activities for children to take part in (e.g., arts and craft, cooking/baking, board games, in and outdoor play and a whole lot more) and encourage children to participate
  • Administering first aid when needed (training will be provided)

We can offer you:

  • A warm and caring environment where the happiness and well-being of the children are our paramount aims
  • The opportunity to become part of a friendly team that strives to be outstanding
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

You will:

  • Most importantly, be passionate about providing outstanding childcare and be willing to have fun and enjoy working with children aged between 4-11 years
  • Be enthusiastic, honest, reliable and hardworking with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Have an energetic personality and be creative in providing new activities for the children – if you have a hobby or skill that you can share with the children (e.g., photography, dance, sport, art) that would be an advantage.
  • Have a good general level of education. Although no formal qualifications are required, a childcare, Playworker or similar qualification at NVQ level 2 or higher (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
  • Applicants must be 17 or over

Application closing date: Midnight Sunday 28th April 2024

An early application is recommended as candidates will be assessed and shortlisted as their application is received. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found.
