We are looking for an exceptional teacher with a heart for working with children with special educational needs, and ideally SEN experience, to join our teaching team.

Brooklands is a split site, primary phase (2-11 years) special school. On one site we have 95 pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties including autism. On our second site we have 76 pupils with ASD / CSCN. The position will be based at our Wray Park site but teachers employed at Brooklands do need to be able to work at either site.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection was in December 2023, when the school received an outcome 2 for its ungraded inspection.  This means the school continues to be 'good' but might be outstanding if it was a graded inspection.  The next inspection will be graded.

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher with a real passion for teaching pupils with SEND. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching pupils with SLD or autistic pupils within a special school or SEN unit but we welcome applications from all teachers.

The position will commence September 2024.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • is keen to develop and share their experience and knowledge of teaching pupils with autism and / or severe and complex learning difficulties
  • is creative, flexible and an adaptive thinker
  • is an excellent team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humour
  • is able to lead a class team in a positive, solution focussed way
  • has a holistic approach to developing our children in all aspects of their education
  • is willing to contribute to whole school development

We can offer you:

  • an enthusiastic and supportive team of staff, parents and governors
  • excellent CPD opportunities
  • participation in research and curriculum projects as part of the wider group of Special schools.

You will play a major role in giving our pupils the very best opportunities to achieve their potential. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the school to arrange a visit.

Closing date: midday Thursday 18th April 2024.

Interviews: to be held Wednesday 24th April 2024.

In addition to an interview, shortlisted candidates will be observed teaching a lesson.
