A fantastic opportunity to join our supportive team and become part of a very special village school community.

Our school has a vacancy for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking teacher to join our ambitious and friendly team in September 2024.

We are seeking a colleague who shows flexibility, excellent classroom practice and the ability to make a significant contribution to our thriving village school. This post would suit a newly qualified professional looking to start their early career development in a supportive and innovative environment, or someone with more experience who is looking for their next role. As a Primary School we expect all members of our team to be able to teach across the entire age range but there is a degree of flexibility as to where we position the successful applicant, dependent upon experience and preferences.

We are looking to appoint someone who:

  • is an excellent classroom practitioner and has teaching experience in a Primary School or similar setting
  • has very high expectations of children’s achievement and behaviour
  • is innovative and creative and will continue our commitment to creative and outdoor learning
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • is willing to contribute to our range of extracurricular activities
  • has a range of skills and interests beyond the classroom and formal curriculum

We can offer you:

  • a fantastic school that plays an important role in the local community
  • a friendly, enthusiastic staff team
  • excellent opportunities for professional development and subject leadership as appropriate
  • delightful children and supportive parents
  • collaborative working with a number of other local schools
  • a proactive and supportive governing body

Visits to the school may be possible outside of normal school hours observing socially distancing protocol and other guidelines. Please telephone the school office to arrange an appointment for a visit or a discussion with the Headteacher.

Diversity and inclusion

The school is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

Safeguarding children at Walton on the Hill Primary School

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.   This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are the Head of School, Richard Laing and Assistant Head, Kirsty Romero.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report it to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.
If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that he/she is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to one of the DSLs in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) who will consider what action to take.
Thank you for supporting the school and its arrangements for the safety and care of children and adults in our school community.
