The Bishop Wand Church of England School is looking to appoint an inspiring and innovative Head of Art and Photography to lead our students through a 7-year journey, preparing them to be responsible innovators for a sustainable and moral future. This post is to cover a period of maternity leave from 1st September 2024 – 31st August 2025.

The position is suitable for an experienced teacher able to teach both Art and Photography across the ability range up to Key Stage 5.

Art and Photography is part of the Computing, Art and Design Technology Faculty. The Faculty has been going from strength to strength in the past 3 years and now have a team of outstanding practitioners that work well together and are keen to share ideas with each other and trainee teachers. Our team is innovative with a drive to introduce new and modern projects with enthusiasm. Our GCSE results in each area of the Faculty have been consistently excellent, achieving some of the highest residuals in the School. We are looking for a colleague who would be willing to help move this level of success even further.

You must possess a clear vision for outstanding subject provision. You will have the ability and commitment to secure high standards of student achievement making learning relevant and developing employability skills in our future young professionals. In February 2023 our School was visited by SIAMS and was graded as ‘Excellent’ in all areas, which is testament to our commitment to our School ethos of Realising God-Given Potential in every student. We were inspected by Ofsted in March 2022 and achieved “Good” on all measures. We are not resting on our laurels and are already on our journey to becoming an outstanding school.
