Experienced SEND Class Teacher  M4 + required.

PART TIME – 3 days per week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

A unique opportunity to join our teaching team at Darley Dene Primary School has become available. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to work 3 days per week in our Owls class which is our Language and Additional Needs unit for 12 children aged between 4 and 7 years old. Owls is funded by the local authority and provides an alternative to a special school for those pupils with SEND who are unable to fully integrate into mainstream classes due to the extent of their developmental needs but who may benefit from inclusion in a mainstream class with high-level support. Alongside the class teacher, there is a team of support staff giving a ratio of 1 adult to every 2 children. In order to meet the LEA’s admissions criteria, children have to have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and the high level of support staff ensures we can meet the individualise targets that are written into these plans.

The successful applicant will have a passion for creating lifelong learners, be committed to inclusion and equality and have high expectations of themselves and every child. Main duties and responsibilities of the job are included in the job description attached to this advertisement along with a person specification giving details of the skills, qualifications and experience required for the roles.

Darley Dene Primary is a one form entry nursery and primary school in Addlestone Surrey with a diverse catchment and a wonderful team spirit. We have a strong reputation for working collaboratively with other local schools and are constantly on the look-out for opportunities to enhance our provision. The right candidate will be joining a strong, professional team of enthusiastic staff who will work alongside you in a supportive and constructive way.

We are:

• A cohesive school, where staff and governors are supportive

• An innovative school with excellent facilities

We offer experienced teachers:

• Accelerated career development for ambitious teachers, which can include gaining qualifications in middle and senior leadership

• Opportunities to lead school improvements

• A climate where your contributions are valued and positively received by all

This is an excellent and unique opportunity for anyone passionate about SEN and we warmly welcome any interested applicants to either come and look around our school and meet the headteacher, or call and speak to the headteacher to discuss any questions you may have. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
