Oakwood is a mainstream secondary school which is inclusive and supports the individual needs of all our students. We have exciting opportunities for the following support staff to join our friendly and supportive team.

Teaching Assistant – Access to Learning Faculty

30 hours per week Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year
Surrey Pay Grade S3 to S5 - £15,248 - £19,275 (£21,269 - £26,886 FTE) depending on skills and experience
Start date – by negotiation

Due to our expanding pupil numbers, Oakwood is seeking to recruit several Teaching Assistants to work within the Access to Learning Faculty (ALF). Teaching Assistants are required to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SENDs), both in the classroom and within small groups.

The ideal candidate is likely to have some experience in working with young people but not necessarily in an educational establishment. The role is varied and you will need to work with students to enable them to successfully access the curriculum.

We are in particular keen for members to join our team who are passionate about building relationships and improving outcomes for students with autism and students with social, emotional and mental health needs. Oakwood can support you with any further training required, so if you are passionate about supporting students with complex needs, do please get in touch. If you are already experienced in these areas, we would similarly love to hear from you.

You will be joining a successful, large team, dedicated to ensuring that all students are able to access the curriculum. Continued Professional Development is highly valued at Oakwood School and we will assist you in enhancing your knowledge and skillset for the benefit of our students.

You Should Have

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good communication skills and enjoy working with young people.
• A positive outlook and be a team player.
• A commitment to equal opportunities.

The closing date is Friday 17th May 2024 (Midday)
Interviews will be held week commencing 20th May 2024

Please note, interviews may take place sooner for the right candidate so please submit your application as soon as possible.
