Careers Support/Advisor

3 days per week for 40 weeks of the year (5 days in the school holidays)

Additional hours available with agreement from the line manager

Salary:

Qualified and experienced = PS5 actual salary £15200 (FTE £27650)

Unqualified = PS4 actual salary £13,263 (FTE £25,052)

You may well have a level 6 Careers Advice & Guidance Qualification BUT you may not and perhaps seeking an opportunity to change direction. We will support someone to train for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and could be the challenge you have been seeking.

It is a busy but interesting post and enables a degree of autonomy, so you will need to be a self-starter. Do not be put off by the scope outlined below, there is plenty of support and our systems for each key event are in place and ready for further development as you become accustomed to the role.

Key aspects to the role:

• enable all students to make informed, suitable and achievable career decisions

• advise all students on how to source relevant post-16 training courses, qualifications and apprenticeships

• provide advice to all students on CV writing and applications, apprenticeship and employment applications, job search and interview techniques

• ensure relevant pastoral and subject tutors are appraised of any relevant discussion outcomes via agreed communication routes

• organise or deliver small group sessions or larger presentations on all aspects of careers work and topics related to progression

• support students in the use of computer aided IAG and Unifrog to help students understand and access information about the current job market

• assist the Senior Leader in the development and use of service tracking systems, as appropriate for service users

• support and advise curriculum and pastoral colleagues in relation to progression opportunities relevant to their areas of responsibility

• Organise a Careers Fair once a year, involving employers, post 16 providers and universities for all students to experience

• Arrange interview days with our local business partners

• Take a lead with regard to the provision of work experience, an important part of our careers provision

This position is term time only, plus five days during the school holidays, therefore 40 weeks per year. You will need to hold a full driving licence.
