Would you like to work in a unique and rewarding setting where trauma informed approaches are at the forefront of every decision? If so we have the ideal opportunity for you. The Surrey Teaching Centre (STC) is a maintained medical education setting providing short term education for children and young people with an acquired brain injury. STC has been recognised as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED and has been awarded ‘Trauma Informed Status’ by TISUK. We prioritise making learning accessible for children and young people with Special Educational Needs so that they can re-engage with learning and return to full time education.
This teaching position is based within a class of early years pupils (aged 2-5) who are receiving therapeutic rehabilitation following a brain injury. Lessons are delivered on a 1:1 or small group basis with a focus on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This allows our learners to make the best possible progress during their time at STC, and allows our staff to develop truly personalised learning opportunities for every pupil! Our pupils have a wide range of abilities and a variety of strengths and needs. You will be supported by our comprehensive in-house training and induction, and you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
We are looking for the right person, who can be sensitive to the needs of children and families at a vulnerable point in their lives. You should be interested in developing expertise in teaching pupils with an acquired brain injury/complex need and employing a trauma informed approach. Due to the nature of our setting this role would suit an experienced SEND and/or Early Years teacher. The post requires Qualified Teacher Status and prior class teaching experience (please refer to the person specification for more detail).
Our school is truly unique! To get a better understanding of STC please visit our website. If you would like to arrange an informal discussion or visit our school, please contact the Headteacher, Kristin Hoogland. Contact and website details are listed in the recruitment documents.
