Employer: Surrey Teaching Centre (maintained medical PRU)

Location: Surrey Teaching Centre (based on site of The Children’s Trust, Tadworth, Surrey)

Working pattern: 9am to 4.30pm, Thursday and Friday (14 hours) 1-year fixed term contract

Salary: PS3 FTE: £25,133 Actual pay: £8,408.47

Start Date: September 1st 2026

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a part time Teaching Assistant (Thursday/Friday) on a 1-year fixed term contract. We are a friendly team working with children with a very wide range of SEN, the majority of whom are on a rehabilitation programme following an acquired brain injury. If you have an interest in working with a range of specialist professionals and developing your understanding of SEND then this is the role for you!

We would like to appoint an enthusiastic, versatile and dedicated Teaching Assistant to assist class teachers in the preparation and delivery of 1:1 and small group learning activities for our pupils. This is a great opportunity to learn about Special Educational Needs across a diverse cohort. We have a wide ability range, many of our students will return to mainstream schools and some will need a more specialised provision. Some experience in SEN would be desirable.

The Surrey Teaching Centre is an ‘outstanding’ medical pupil referral unit specialising in the education of children and young people with an acquired brain injury who are resident at The Children’s Trust. Ages range from 2 to 18 years with a very wide ability range. Placements range from 6 to 12 weeks on average.

We are looking for the right person, who can be sensitive to the needs of children and families at a vulnerable point in their lives, and who is enthusiastic about learning new skills.

For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit to the school, please see attached documents for contact details.
