Join the Management Committee at Surrey Teaching Centre
Surrey Teaching Centre is a medical pupil referral unit (PRU) providing education for children and young people admitted to The Children’s Trust for rehabilitation following an acquired brain injury (ABI).
Our pupils come from across the UK and are typically with us for between 6 and 12 weeks. Some may also have special educational needs arising from a degenerative syndrome or condition.
We recognise that the children and young people who come to us are often facing significant challenges, alongside their families and carers. Our aim is to provide a supportive, understanding and highly personalised education during what can be an incredibly difficult period in their lives.
Surrey Teaching Centre is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and is Trauma Informed accredited.
Could you help shape our future?
We are looking for a new governor to join our Management Committee and contribute to the continued development of our unique and specialist provision.
This is an opportunity to use your experience, knowledge and perspective to support and challenge the school’s leadership, help shape strategic decisions and ultimately make a positive difference to the children and young people we support.
We would particularly welcome interest from people with knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Income generation and fundraising
- School collaboration models (joining a multi-academy trust)
- Acquired brain injury (ABI) – whether through professional experience, lived experience as an adult, or as a parent, guardian, or kinship carer of a child with an ABI.
- Hospital education provision
The length of the term of office is 4 years.
However, you do not need to have extensive experience in all, or indeed any, of these areas. If you have an interest in our work, can bring a thoughtful and constructive perspective and are willing to learn, we would be pleased to hear from you.
