Aurora Peartree is opening its doors in Autumn 2026, and we're looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to help make this vision a reality. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative.

Aurora Peartree will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 120 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

The role:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you'll support the Class Teacher with all aspects of classroom delivery and take responsibility for teaching whole classes, groups and individual lessons across a range of subjects. You'll play a key role in creating a positive, engaging learning environment and supporting pupils' wellbeing and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing and delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care and promoting independence.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour.
  • Assisting with curriculum planning and resource preparation.
  • Acting as a role model for new staff and guiding less experienced Teaching Assistants.

Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school when required. Please see the link at the bottom of the page for the full job description.

About You:

We're looking for someone with:

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASD and SEMH.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable
