Aurora Linemere is opening its doors in January 2027, and we're looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to help make this vision a reality. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative.

Aurora Linemere will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

The role:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you'll support the Class Teacher with all aspects of classroom delivery and take responsibility for teaching whole classes, groups and individual lessons across a range of subjects. You'll play a key role in creating a positive, engaging learning environment and supporting pupils' wellbeing and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading lessons and providing cover in the absence of the Class Teacher.

Planning, preparing and delivering learning activities tailored to individual needs.

Supporting pupils with personal care and promoting independence.

Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour.

Assisting with curriculum planning and resource preparation.

Acting as a role model for new staff and guiding less experienced Teaching Assistants.

About You:

We're looking for someone with:

Essential Qualifications

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification.

GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).

Essential Skills & Experience

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASD and SEMH.

Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.

Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

Experience in a special school setting.

Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
