We are currently looking for an experienced Maths Teacher to join Aurora Hedgeway School. The school supports young people aged 7–19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.

We offer life skills and a wide range of GCSE, Functional Skills and BTEC accreditations alongside a functional skills/entry level pathway. Behaviours across the school are excellent.

Experience of teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths, is essential.

About The Role

As our Maths Teacher, you'll play a key role in helping young people with autism and additional needs develop both academically and personally.

You'll deliver engaging Maths lessons across a range of abilities and pathways, including GCSE and Functional Skills, adapting your teaching to meet individual needs and help every pupil achieve their potential.

Working closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team, you'll create a positive and supportive learning environment where pupils can build confidence, develop independence and experience success both in and out of the classroom.

As part of your role, you'll also:

Plan and deliver creative, engaging Maths lessons

Support pupils to achieve recognised qualifications and individual learning goals

Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and specialist support teams

Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive outcomes for all pupils

Contribute to the continued growth and development of our school community

About You

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths

A strong understanding of the curriculum and how to adapt learning for pupils with SEND

Experience of, or a genuine interest in, working with young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

The ability to build positive, nurturing relationships and engage learners with a range of needs

A flexible, creative approach with high expectations for pupil achievement and wellbeing

A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
