Aurora Peartree is a brand new school, opening its doors in January 2027, and we're looking for a dedicated Cleaner to help create a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for our pupils and staff from day one.

Aurora Peartree will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

Your Role

As our Cleaner, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Working across classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas, you'll help ensure the school is presented to a high standard while supporting health, safety and hygiene requirements across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning classrooms, offices, toilets, corridors and communal areas to a high standard
  • Vacuuming, mopping and maintaining both hard and soft floor surfaces
  • Emptying bins and replenishing hygiene and janitorial supplies Dusting, wiping and cleaning furniture, fixtures, fittings and surfaces throughout the school
  • Carrying out daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and checklists
  • Safely using cleaning products and equipment in line with COSHH and health and safety guidance
  • Reporting any defects, maintenance concerns or hazards to the School Business Manager

 

About You

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys contributing to a positive environment for children and young people.

You will have:

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness
  • A reliable, organised and flexible approach to work
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements and the safe use of cleaning products, or a willingness to learn
  • A good level of fitness and the ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely
  • Experience of cleaning within a school and/or special needs environment (desirable)
