Aurora Fairway School is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher with English as a specialism to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist secondary school supporting young people aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver inspiring and engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every learner can succeed.
  • Plan, assess and adapt learning to support a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Monitor and promote student progress, wellbeing and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the wider life of the school.
  • Support students to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Has strong classroom management skills and a creative, adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Shares our belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with students with SEN, SEMH and/or Autism.
  • Experience delivering a differentiated curriculum to learners with varying abilities.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Additional qualifications or training in SEN.
