Salary : £34,069 - £46,940 plus subject lead allowance of £2,000 per annum

Hours: 40 per week

We are seeking an ambitious, inspirational and highly effective Humanities Curriculum Lead to join our team across seven specialist school sites. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs aged 7-19.

As Humanities Curriculum Lead, you will provide strategic leadership for Humanities across the organisation, ensuring a coherent, ambitious and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our learners. You will lead curriculum development, assessment and quality assurance, using evidence and data to drive improvement and secure positive outcomes for all pupils.

You will be responsible for ensuring that learners develop knowledge and understanding of history, geography and religious education whilst supporting preparation for adulthood, independence and active participation in society.

Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues across our seven sites, you will support, challenge and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development. You will play a key role in improving teaching and learning, promoting high expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This role combines classroom teaching with dedicated leadership time, allowing you to make a direct impact on learners while shaping the future direction of Humanities education across the school. 

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a reflective, enthusiastic and skilled leader who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for Humanities.
• Has experience of curriculum leadership or leading improvement within a subject area.
• Has experience of teaching one or more Humanities disciplines, including History, Geography or Citizenship.
• Understands how to adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
• Can use assessment information effectively to raise standards.
• Can develop learners' understanding of people, places, cultures, society and the wider world.
• Is able to inspire, coach and develop colleagues.
• Has excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and improving life chances for young people.
• Is willing to travel between our school sites as required.
