SEN Science Curriculum Lead

R.E.A.L Education – Various teaching hubs situated within Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire

Salary from £34,069 - £46,940 plus subject lead allowance of £2,000 per annum 

Contract: Permanent          

Hours: 40 per week, term time

We are seeking an ambitious, inspirational and highly effective Science Curriculum Lead to join our team across seven specialist school sites. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs aged 7-19.

As Science Curriculum Lead, you will provide strategic leadership for science across the organisation, ensuring a coherent, ambitious and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our learners. You will lead curriculum development, assessment and quality assurance, using evidence and data to drive improvement and secure positive outcomes for all pupils.

Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues across our seven sites, you will support, challenge and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development. You will play a key role in improving teaching and learning, promoting high expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This role combines classroom teaching with dedicated leadership time, allowing you to make a direct impact on learners while shaping the future direction of science education across the school.


What We Are Looking For

  • We are looking for a reflective, enthusiastic and skilled leader who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for science.
  • Has experience of curriculum leadership or leading improvement within a subject area.
  • Understands how to adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Can use assessment information effectively to raise standards.
  • Is able to inspire, coach and develop colleagues.
  • Has excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and improving life chances for young people.
  • Is willing to travel between our school sites as required.
