Governance Professional for The Four Stones Multi Academy Trust

Salary: PO1 point 28 (£32,798)- PO2 point 33 (£37,568) on the NJC

Salary dependent on qualifications and experience

The Four Stones Multi Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking to appoint a Governance Professional as a new role for our Trust to provide specific capacity in ensuring the highest quality governance across our MAT. The successful candidate will lead the development of standards of governance including advising the Chair of the Trust Board and Chief Executive Officer on governance process and practice, overseeing compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. As the Trust’s governance expert, the postholder will make an invaluable contribution to board efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and compliance and will develop and deliver or source appropriate training for Trustees and Local Governors and be responsible for a robust calendar of meetings and agendas for Trustees and Local Governing Bodies.

The post is full-time and permanent, 37 hours per week (although term-time only working may be negotiable for the right candidate). The role will be based in one of the schools in the MAT and involve travel to all other schools as required, although it is envisaged that most of the specific responsibilities requiring interaction with colleagues in different schools could be fulfilled remotely. The post-holder will need to be available for evening work to support meetings and as such a flexible approach to working is required and encouraged; this could include some home working and differing working patterns from week to week.

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chair of the Trust Board. The MAT also employs a part-time Clerk who will report to the post-holder. The successful candidate will be required to fulfil aspects of clerking, as necessary.

This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Informal discussions with Mark Pollard (Acting Chief Executive Officer) are welcome. Please contact Jo Stanley (PA to the Chief Executive Officer) to make an appointment (see contact details on attached document).

Further information and an application form are available the MAT website on for further information. The completed form should be emailed by 10.00am on Monday 5th September 2022. We intend to interview shortly thereafter. However, early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview earlier for this post should a suitable candidate apply.
