Working Pattern: Various – To Be Discussed At Interview

We have exciting opportunities for Academic Tutors to join the team at Thomas Knyvett College. As a direct result of new funding from the government for the sole purpose of student/pupil intervention we are able to offer the opportunity of tutoring to small groups of students/pupils. Candidates should be qualified teachers who possess excellent interpersonal skills and listening skills with a commitment to helping.

This role will be working with students/pupils to help them to progress in their subjects through small group tuition. The tuition is needed in a variety of subjects, though English, Maths and Science are a particular focus. The aim is to enable these students to close any learning gaps they have and enable them to catch up with their peers. There is a particular focus on our disadvantaged students.

We have opportunities across our schools and therefore ask that you indicate on your supporting statement within our application process that you indicate which locations you would be available to provide tutoring.

The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) is a Multi-Academy Trust, comprising four secondary, six primary schools and three special schools, with plans in progress for a further special school.

Our vision is that we all aim to ‘Bring out the best’ in our students, of all abilities and backgrounds, and so increase their life-chances. In addition to the special schools that have recently joined the Trust, the inclusive ethos of THPT is further strengthened by 5 Special centres attached to mainstream settings; 4 COIN (Communication and Interaction Needs) Centres, and one Visually Impaired Centre. A further Free School special school is due to open in 2022/23.

THPT continues to be asked by the Local Authority and DfE to work with other schools with on-going development of effective partnerships across both primary and secondary phases to help raise standards of student achievement throughout Surrey. We believe such partnership activities help our schools to be even more successful by building upon our existing excellent practice and so remain at the 'cutting edge' of education.
