We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated, and innovative Head of Drama to join our Arts Faculty at Howard of Effingham School. We are looking for an inspirational teacher with the ability to create a nurturing learning environment, a commitment to ‘Bringing out the Best’ in every student, and a genuine passion for their subject.
Teaching and Learning is at the heart of everything we do at the Howard. The Howard is a place where you really do have the space to teach, and we encourage colleagues to try new things, take risks, and have fun in the classroom. Our teachers are encouraged to be themselves whilst reflecting on the latest developments in pedagogy and how they can be applied. Central to our ethos are the positive relationships and personalised approach which we take with all our students.
The Drama department is housed in 2 drama studios with students being taught in tutor groups in Key Stage 3 for one lesson per week. Drama is a popular option choice at KS4 and at KS5. KS4 have 5 lessons a fortnight and study the OCR GCSE Drama specification. Students at KS5 study Edexcel A’ Level Drama and Theatre, having 9 lessons per fortnight. All lessons are taught by specialist teachers.
Currently, there is a thriving extra-curricular provision for Drama including the main school musical, the KS3 drama club and whole school productions both in the autumn and summer term.
