Do you have the vision and passion to take our wonderful school forward?
Meadhurst Primary School is a vibrant, diverse, and successful primary school in Ashford Common, Surrey, where over 400 pupils aged between 3 and 11 years old are encouraged to reach their full potential- in all areas of their lives. As part of The Howard Partnership Trust, we feel a deep responsibility to nurture and be ambitious for our pupils and our communities. We are fully committed to equality of opportunity and have a thriving nursery and special educational needs provisions on site at the school.
Since joining The Howard Partnership Trust family in December 2018, we have established ourselves as a welcoming and popular school for our community. The school received a ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement in 2023, and this role offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated and committed body of staff to continue our upward trajectory. The individual pupil is at the heart of everything we do, and everyone in the school community works hard to achieve our key values of Respect, Resilience, Kindness, Trust, Honesty, and Proficiency.
As our new Principal, you will provide inspirational leadership that will further improve Meadhurst Primary School for the children it serves. You will bring with you experience of best-practice in teaching and learning and opportunities for children, ensuring that the school is a hub of the fantastic local community that we are so proud to serve. You will be dedicated to inclusive practice and have the highest expectations for an outstanding education for all children, regardless of need or starting point in life. We are looking for a visionary and visible leader, with a strong moral purpose and the gravitas required to take our school to the next level. You will need to be an excellent communicator and enjoy empowering others.
You are likely to be a Deputy Headteacher/Vice Principal looking for your first headship, but you could also be a serving Headteacher looking for a new challenge. Sharing our belief that every young child should have the opportunity to discover their true potential is what matters most, as well as an exemplary track record of leadership in schools in disadvantaged areas. As part of The Howard Partnership Trust, you’ll be given the autonomy to lead and shape the school, as well as every opportunity to work collaboratively with talented leaders across the trust.
The successful candidate will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
The Howard Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. In making your application, it is essential you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up; any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.
As well as verification of identity, we ask all successful candidates to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, we may also conduct an online search about any shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence to identify any matters that might relate directly to our legal duty to meet safeguarding duties, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
