We are seeking to appoint a Qualified Teacher to work within our new inclusion centre opening September 2022 at The Portsmouth Academy.

The Centre is closely linked with the Rainbow Fish Inclusion Centre based at Penhale Infant School. Both Centre’s support children with complex cognition and learning difficulties, who have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). The children will be integrating into mainstream for some learning, with a high level of support to meet their specific needs from the provision staff. Our curriculum centres on each child as an individual, looking at their starting points and next steps.

We would warmly welcome applications for teachers with a primary background who are looking to experience working with older students.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Be a qualified teacher
  • Experience teaching within an SEN/ Inclusion setting would be advantageous, either in a secondary or upper KS2 setting.
  • Passionate about teaching and learning and have a positive outlook and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good or Outstanding classroom practice, being able to plan and deliver a creative, adaptive and stimulating curriculum
  • Provide a differentiated, balanced, progressive, varied and stimulating curriculum in line with statutory and school requirements while taking into account each pupils’ special educational needs.
  • You will be dedicated to ensure that all of our children achieve their very best
  • An aspiring leader of learning and happy to grasp exciting CPD opportunities
  • Contribute to the values, ethos and the development of our schools.
