Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Level 2)

Actual Annual Salary: £18,421 - £19,859 (Based on hours and working weeks)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £27,964 - £30,146 (CLF Grade C)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Part-time, 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)

Additional role info: Working Pattern = Monday to Friday 8:30-15:30pm

Provisional Start Date: 1 September 2025

Sky Academy, a nurturing specialist school in Taunton for students with EHCPs and SEMH/SLCN needs, is offering six inspiring new Teaching Assistant roles where you can genuinely change young lives.

We are looking for a Teaching Partner with the passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of young people, both within and beyond the classroom, supporting the delivery of excellent education experiences and championing the life chances of all children in our academy. Through providing key educational, personal and social developmental support under the guidance of teaching colleagues you will support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques, enabling them to access the curriculum, and engage with their learning to achieve their full potential. You will be working with a wide range of academy staff at all levels, receiving full ongoing training to support your development and have the ability to work term time only.

About you:

You will:

· have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.

· be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.

· be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.

· be able to engage students and manage behaviour on a one to one or small group basis.

· have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.

· have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.

· be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.

About The Sky Academy:

Sky Academy is a special school for young people in years 5-11 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH and SCL needs. Located in Taunton, our catchment of young people comes from those who live within a 75-minute drive across Somerset. At our core is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at post-16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum

that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, PSHCE, and PE in addition to a wider curriculum of art, ICT, careers and life skills.
